Mercy (2023), directed by Tony Dean Smith, attempts to inject fresh urgency into the familiar home invasion thriller template, albeit with mixed results. While the premise—a military hospital setting providing a backdrop for a desperate mother's fight for her son—holds initial promise, its execution often falters between genuinely tense moments and predictable genre tropes.
