Fred Wolf's Drunk Parents (2019) attempts a dark comedic romp through the perils of upper-middle-class financial collapse, yet ultimately stumbles into a realm of missed opportunities and tonal incoherence. Despite the undeniable charisma and comedic chops of Alec Baldwin and Salma Hayek, their combined star power struggles to elevate a screenplay that feels both underdeveloped and strangely uncommitted to its own outrageous premise. The film’s directorial vision, or lack thereof, by Wolf is evident in its flat aesthetic and pedestrian pacing, failing to imbue the escalating chaos with either genuine tension or uproarious humor.

The cinematic execution frequently feels like a made-for-TV movie rather than a feature designed to engage a theatrical audience.
