Ba Chàng Ngốc - The Three Stooges (2012)

The Farrelly Brothers' 2012 revival of 'The Three Stooges' was an ambitious, albeit divisive, cinematic endeavor. Technologically, the film meticulously recreated the classic slapstick aesthetic, from eye-pokes and nose-tweaks to signature mud-flinging antics. The cinematography and set design deliberately evoked an anachronistic feel, aiming for a nostalgic homage to vaudeville roots. However, this very faithfulness proved to be a double-edged sword, often making the film feel out of sync with contemporary comedic sensibilities. The performances of Chris Diamantopoulos (Moe), Sean Hayes (Larry), and Will Sasso (Curly) were a standout achievement, demonstrating uncanny embodiment of their original counterparts' mannerisms, vocal inflections, and physical comedy. Will Sasso, in particular, captured the essence of Curly with surprising grace. Despite their commendable efforts, the underlying message of brotherhood and innocent resilience often got lost amidst the relentless physical gags, diminishing its core value. Within the modern comedy landscape, it stands as a well-intentioned tribute that ultimately lacked significant innovative impact.
