Allegiant (2016), directed by Robert Schwentke, stands as a stark testament to the waning appeal of the dystopian Young Adult genre in cinema. While attempting to expand the Divergent universe beyond the familiar confines of Chicago, the film unfortunately delivers a disjointed narrative riddled with structural weaknesses and an overall lack of compelling vision.

From a technical standpoint, Allegiant suffers from uninspired visual effects and a production design that, despite its attempts at grandiosity, often feels cheap and unconvincing.
